About Forreston

Forreston is a small village in the Adelaide Hills, about three kilometres north-east of Gumeracha and 41 kilometres from Adelaide. Founded by blacksmith Alexander Forrest in 1850, the village once had a post office, store and school, and gold was found at nearby Watts Gully in 1884. Today the area supports grazing, dairying and market gardening, and its main street is known for spring wildflowers.
