About Kandanga

Kandanga is a rural town in the Mary Valley of the Gympie Region, Queensland, about 20 kilometres south of Gympie. The name is thought to derive from a Kabi Aboriginal word describing a bend in a creek. The first township was at Bunya Creek, but when the Mary Valley railway opened in 1914 the town moved to its present site. Kandanga supports dairy farming, pineapples and timber, and hosts an annual Pineapple Festival.
