About Amamoor Creek

Amamoor Creek is a rural locality in the Gympie Region of Queensland, situated in the Mary River valley approximately 17 kilometres south of Gympie. Named after an Aboriginal word meaning swimming in water, the area was established as a pastoral run in the 1850s and grew with the opening of the Mary Valley railway in 1914. The locality is home to the annual Gympie Music Muster, first held in 1982, which draws tens of thousands of country music fans to the Amamoor State Forest each August.
