About Halifax

Halifax is a coastal town in the Hinchinbrook Shire, about 160 kilometres north of Townsville. It sits on the shores of Halifax Bay, near Dunk Island and within sight of Hinchinbrook Island, Australia's largest island national park. The town was established in the 1860s as a sugar-growing settlement and retains a quiet, small-town character.
