Preston is a rural locality straddling the Toowoomba Region and Lockyer Valley Region in south-east Queensland, situated about 12 kilometres south-south-east of the Toowoomba CBD on the southern slopes of the Great Dividing Range. The area supports productive agricultural land with rural-residential properties and hobby farms. A provisional school opened in 1896 and a state school operated from 1930 until 1947, reflecting the early farming community that settled the district.
