About Grantham
Grantham is a rural town and locality in the Lockyer Valley Region of Queensland, about 100 km west of Brisbane on the Warrego Highway. The area was first settled in 1841 when George Mocatta named his pastoral run Grantham, and a butter factory operated in the town from 1907. In January 2011 Grantham was severely damaged by a huge flash flood that claimed 12 lives, after which much of the town was relocated to higher ground on a nearby hill under a voluntary land-swap scheme.
