About Nirimba (Qld)
Nirimba is a developing locality in the Sunshine Coast Region of Queensland, located 25.8 kilometres southwest of Caloundra and 83.1 kilometres north of Brisbane. The name Nirimba means middle in the Kabi language and the area is situated in Gubbi Gubbi traditional Aboriginal country. Created on 14 June 2019 by excising parts of Bells Creek and Meridan Plains, the locality was established to accommodate future suburban growth in the Caloundra South Priority Development Area. Nirimba State Primary School opened in January 2022 with 160 foundation students and capacity for 1,200. The locality is in transition from a historically rural area to a new suburban development.
