About Thargomindah
Thargomindah is a town and locality in the far south-west of Queensland and the administrative centre of the Shire of Bulloo. It stands over the Great Artesian Basin, where an artesian bore sunk in 1893 supplied reticulated water to the town from 1895. The bore's flow was also used to generate electricity, making Thargomindah one of the first towns in Australia to have hydroelectric-powered street lighting.
