About Langlo

Langlo is a near-ghost settlement in the Shire of Murweh of outback Queensland, located about 109 kilometres northwest of Charleville and 854 kilometres west-northwest of Brisbane. Originally known as Kahmoo Mulga from the Gunggari word Amu meaning water, it was an important Cobb and Co change station that at its heyday supported two hotels, a store, post office, school, police station, racetrack, and community hall. A school operated from 1907 to 1937 and the town declined with the arrival of cars and rail, with only the community hall, some dongas, and one house remaining today. The Langlo Crossing Historical Cemetery has 17 recorded burials from 1883 to 1918, restored with memorial plaques by volunteer historians in 2023.
