About Dixie (Qld)
Dixie is a remote rural locality in the Shire of Cook on Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland. The locality contains the source of both the Morehead and Alice Rivers, with the Great Dividing Range passing through. Much of the area lies within Olkola National Park on Cape York Peninsula Aboriginal Land, and the Dixie pastoral station was purchased by the Queensland Government in 2012 for conservation of the endangered golden-shouldered parrot.
