About Aramac
Aramac is a rural town on Aramac Creek in central-west Queensland, about 68 kilometres north of Barcaldine. Established in 1869, it was the region's first town but lost its administrative status when the railway bypassed it in 1886 in favour of Barcaldine. The community built the Aramac Tramway, now a heritage-listed museum, and the annual Harry Redford Cattle Drive traces the 1870 route of the legendary cattle duffer Captain Starlight.
