About Woodwark
Woodwark is a coastal locality in the Whitsunday Region of Queensland, situated approximately 21.5 kilometres north-east of Proserpine. Named after Woodwark Bay, which Lieutenant G.E. Richards named in 1886 after George Smith Woodwark, a timber merchant and philanthropist from King's Lynn in Norfolk, England, the locality includes sections of Dryander National Park and its coastal waters form part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The television series Tales of the South Seas was filmed at Woodwark Bay in 1997.
