About Kagaru
Kagaru is a rural locality split between the Scenic Rim Region and the City of Logan, Queensland, about 60 km south-west of the Brisbane CBD. Its name derives from the Ugarapul word for the blue-winged kookaburra. The Logan River and Teviot Brook form its eastern boundary along the Sydney-Brisbane rail corridor. The locality was named after Kagaru railway station, built in 1930 when a new rail line cut six hours off the Brisbane-to-Sydney journey. Land use is predominantly grazing on native vegetation, with some crop growing.
