About Currumbin
Currumbin is a coastal suburb in the City of Gold Coast, located on the traditional land of the Yugambeh people. The name derives from the Yugambeh language, meaning quicksand or a species of pine tree. The suburb is home to the heritage-listed Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, established in the late 1940s when a flower grower began feeding lorikeets, eventually creating one of the Gold Coast best known attractions. Currumbin Alley is a popular surf break, and in 2013 the suburb was named Australia cleanest beach by Keep Australia Beautiful.
