About Whetstone

Whetstone is a rural locality in the Goondiwindi Region, situated along MacIntyre Brook about 16 kilometres southwest of Inglewood. The landscape is characterised by granite and traprock grazing country on the Darling Downs, and the locality is home to Whetstone Weir, a popular fishing spot stocked with native species. The area's pastoral roots date to the 1840s, and the South Western railway line reached Whetstone in 1908 with a notable bridge over MacIntyre Brook.
