About Roma
Roma is a rural town and locality in the Maranoa Region of Queensland, the administrative centre of the region. Incorporated in 1867, it was named after Lady Diamantina Bowen, wife of the first Governor of Queensland, and was the site of Australia's first oil and gas discoveries. Roma is home to the Big Rig heritage attraction and one of the southern hemisphere's largest store cattle selling centres, and its wide streets are lined with bottle trees.
