About North Talwood
North Talwood was a rural locality in the Goondiwindi Region of Queensland, on the Barwon Highway west of Goondiwindi and just north of the border with New South Wales, with the town of Talwood on its southern edge. The name comes from the Dalwood pastoral run, taken up in 1844 and probably a corruption of an Aboriginal language word, and the district grew after the railway from Goondiwindi to Dirranbandi was built, becoming a service centre and grain depot. In May 2024 the locality was merged with South Talwood to form the single locality of Talwood.
