About Cherry Gully

Cherry Gully is a rural locality in the Southern Downs Region, Queensland, about 25 km south of Warwick. The name is thought to derive from a story about a cask of sherry that fell from a wagon into a gully, the word 'sherry' later being corrupted to 'cherry'; another explanation points to wild cherry trees growing in the area. A provisional school operated from 1900 to around 1916.
