About Canaga
Canaga is a small rural locality in the Western Downs Region of Queensland, situated northwest of Jandowae and named from the pastoral run established here in the early 1850s by Arthur Lloyd and later transferred to Joshua and Alexander Bell. The surrounding landscape of cleared agricultural land supports grain cropping and grazing typical of the Darling Downs hinterland, and the former Canaga State School site — operating from 1911 to 1962 — is now a recreation area managed by the Western Downs Regional Council.
