About Morinish
Morinish is a remote rural locality in the Rockhampton Region, roughly 66 kilometres north-west of Rockhampton. It is historically significant as the site of an 1860s gold rush, when miners flocked to the area and the Alliance Mine and other workings operated through to the early 1900s. Today the landscape is dominated by vast cattle stations, rugged bushland and the Fitzroy River boundary, with no commercial services and residents reliant on Rockhampton.
