About Mackenzie (Central Highlands - Qld)
Mackenzie is a rural locality in the Central Highlands Region of Queensland, about 73 kilometres north of Dingo. It was named after the Mackenzie River, which was named by explorer Ludwig Leichhardt in 1845 after pastoralist Evan Mackenzie. The river forms much of the locality's boundary and Moultrie State Forest lies in the south.
