About Baffle Creek

Baffle Creek is a rural locality in the Gladstone Region of Queensland, bounded to the south and south-west by the watercourse of the same name. The area was first settled in 1908 by Prussian and German immigrants of the Apostolic Church of Queensland, who named the Wartburg neighbourhood after the hill where they waited for their land orders. A sugar mill operated from 1911 until 1919, and Wartburg State School opened in 1913.
