About Agnes Water

Agnes Water is a coastal town in the Gladstone Region of Queensland, located 478 kilometres north of Brisbane and 122 kilometres north-north-west of Bundaberg. Named after the schooner Agnes lost at sea in 1873, the town is the closest access point to the Great Barrier Reef from the mainland and is home to the northernmost surfing beach on the east coast. Adjacent to the Town of 1770, Agnes Water is bordered by the 23,000-hectare Eurimbula National Park and the Joseph Banks Environmental Park. The town became Australia's first cryptocurrency town in 2018.
