About Lower Daintree
Lower Daintree is a small rural locality in the Shire of Douglas in tropical north Queensland, situated in the Daintree River valley south of the Daintree River ferry crossing. The area is characterised by tropical rainforest, cattle grazing and remnant mangrove-lined waterways on the floodplain of the Daintree River. Lower Daintree lies within the broader Wet Tropics World Heritage Area, with the surrounding landscape featuring one of the oldest continuously surviving tropical rainforests on Earth.
