About Keperra
Keperra is a residential suburb of Brisbane, about 12.4 km north-west of the city centre on the Ferny Grove railway line. Its name comes from the Yuggera word kippa, meaning a young man, linked to the bora ring initiation ceremonies once held here. The district was first settled in the 1860s and long known as Grovely, after the Nicholson family's Groveley Lodge, until the suburb adopted the Keperra name in the mid-1970s.
