About Milton (Qld)
Milton is an inner riverside suburb of Brisbane, located two kilometres west of the CBD. Named after Milton House built by chemist Ambrose Eldridge in 1854, who named it after his birthplace near Oxford in England, the suburb was the site of the North Brisbane Burial Ground from 1843 until 1875, now the location of Suncorp Stadium. The heritage-listed Milton House is one of Brisbane oldest surviving pre-Separation residences. The Castlemaine Perkins XXXX Brewery has operated on the site since 1878, and Park Road has evolved into a fashionable dining precinct.
