About Titjikala

Titjikala, also known as Tapatjatjaka, is a remote Aboriginal community about 130 kilometres south of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, on the edge of the Simpson Desert. Formerly known as Maryvale, it was settled in the 1950s and its land was granted to the traditional owners on freehold title in 1987. The community is home to Arrernte, Luritja and Pitjantjatjara people, and its Tapatjatjaka Art and Craft centre is known for acrylic works on canvas. Chambers Pillar is about 40 kilometres to the west.
