About Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa, also known by its Arrernte name Ltyentye Apurte, is an Eastern Arrernte community in the Northern Territory, about 80 kilometres south-east of Alice Springs. The name Ltyentye Apurte means clump of beefwood trees. A Catholic mission from Arltunga was moved to the site in 1953, and in 1976 administration passed to an Aboriginal land trust. The community is home to the Keringke Arts Centre, established in 1989.
