About Pigeon Hole
Pigeon Hole is a small community in the Victoria Daly Regional Council area of the Northern Territory, on a floodplain of the Victoria River more than 700 kilometres south of Darwin. It was until 2000 an outstation of the Victoria River Downs pastoral station, and is home to Gurindji and Ngarinyman people. In 2024 the community was formally renamed Nitjpurru, its Bilinarra language name for a nearby billabong.
