About Miniyeri

Miniyeri is a small Aboriginal community in the Victoria River region of the Northern Territory, situated approximately 300 kilometres south-west of Katherine in the remote outback. The community is home to the Gurindji people and is characterised by its remote desert landscape of spinifex grasslands, savanna woodland and the flat red plains of the Victoria River district. Miniyeri sits within one of Australia's most sparsely populated regions, with the nearby town of Timber Creek providing services to the surrounding district.
