About Prairiewood
Prairiewood is a suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, located 34 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD within the City of Fairfield. Originally part of Wetherill Park, the area was developed in the 1970s as Prairiewood Estate and later became an independent suburb. It is predominantly residential and home to Stockland Wetherill Park, a major shopping centre, Fairfield Hospital, which relocated to the area in 1988, and the 18-hole Fairfield Golf Course. Fairfield Showground hosts cultural events and weekly Saturday markets.
