About Springwood (NSW)
Springwood is a town in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, 72 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD, in the City of Blue Mountains. It sits on a narrow ridge between two gorges near the Blue Mountains National Park and the Greater Blue Mountains Area World Heritage Site, and its railway station lies between Valley Heights and Faulconbridge on the Blue Mountains line. The name comes from the springs noted by Governor Lachlan Macquarie in 1815 and the Mountain Blue Gums of the area. The first station was built in 1868 and replaced by a heritage-listed Victorian Gothic building in 1884, among the oldest surviving stations in the mountains.
