About Brookvale
Brookvale is a suburb in the Northern Beaches region of northern Sydney, New South Wales, situated 16 kilometres north-east of the Sydney central business district. The area takes its name from Brookvale House, built in 1883 by Sydney Alexander Malcolm, though European settlement began in 1836 with farmland granted to William Frederick Parker. Now an established industrial and commercial centre, Brookvale hosts Westfield Warringah Mall, the largest shopping complex in the region, along with Brookvale Oval, the home ground of the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles rugby league club. The suburb also houses the landing station of the Southern Cross submarine communications cable.
