About Glendenning
Glendenning is a suburb of Sydney, in the City of Blacktown local government area, New South Wales, Australia. Located 44 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district, it sits within the Greater Western Sydney region at an elevation of 44 metres. The suburb was officially declared in 1987 and named after William Glendenning, a Plumpton butcher who operated a slaughteryard in the area during the early 1900s. Neighbouring suburbs include Plumpton, Rooty Hill, Doonside, Dean Park, and Oakhurst. The suburb falls within the state electoral district of Mount Druitt and the federal Division of Chifley. A notable landmark is the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga, which was opened on the corner of Glendenning Road and Lamb Street in October 2008 by King George Tupou V of Tonga. Busways operates a depot on Glendenning Road.
