About Comberton

Comberton is a small rural locality in the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales, west of Nowra on the northern bank of Currambene Creek. It is sparsely settled, with only a handful of houses near the turn-off of the Princes Highway and Forest Road; the rest of the locality is taken up by the Nowra and Currambene state forests. The district has a long farming history: Comberton Grange, a property on Currambene Creek built between 1843 and 1847 with convict labour, was once regarded as the centre of dairy farming in the Shoalhaven, and a sawmill operated there in the late 1890s. The farmstead was worked by the Jennings family for three generations until 1963, and was listed on the National Trust register in 1981.
