About Bomaderry
Bomaderry is a suburb of Nowra in the City of Shoalhaven, New South Wales, on the north shore of the Shoalhaven River, where the South Coast railway line terminates. It grew out of the Shoalhaven Estate from the 1880s, and its factories, including a security-paper mill that printed banknotes and passports, were long the area's industrial heart. Bomaderry is also the site of the Bomaderry Aboriginal Children's Home, established in 1908 as the first home for Aboriginal children in New South Wales and closed in 1988, a significant site of the Stolen Generations story that is now heritage-listed.
