About Goobarragandra
Goobarragandra is a rural locality in the Snowy Valleys Council area of southern New South Wales, along the Goobarragandra River, which rises in the Fiery Range and joins the Tumut River near Tumut. The valley was crossed by the Hume and Hovell expedition in 1824, and gold diggings opened along the upper river from 1855. The Hume and Hovell Walking Track follows the river for about 10 kilometres south of Tumut, and the surrounding ranges are protected within Kosciuszko National Park.
