About Collingullie
Collingullie is a village about 26 km north-west of Wagga Wagga in the Riverina of New South Wales, on the Sturt Highway between Wagga Wagga and Narrandera, at the crossroads with the road to Lockhart. The name comes from the Wiradjuri word for boggy ground, and a wide flood plain separates the village from the Murrumbidgee River. It is a closely settled farming village on the flat, fertile plains, where the public school, opened in 1878, has long been a focus, and the district is celebrated in the Lee Kernaghan song Collingullie Station.
