About Wollongbar

Wollongbar is a growing town in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, located on the Bruxner Highway between Lismore and Alstonville on the Alstonville Plateau at an elevation of 166 metres. The area was first settled by Europeans in 1869 and became home to the NSW second state experimental farm in 1894, which evolved into the Wollongbar Primary Industries Institute. The town experienced rapid growth from the 1980s onward, attracting tree-changers and families seeking affordable housing in a subtropical hinterland setting.
