About East Lismore
East Lismore is a locality on the eastern bank of the Wilsons River in the Richmond-Tweed region of New South Wales. It lies directly east of the Lismore central business district. The name derives from its position relative to Lismore, named by Scottish settlers after the island of Lismore in the Inner Hebrides. The locality occupies low-lying floodplain terrain bordered by Girards Hill, Monaltrie, Goonellabah, and South Lismore. It was once part of the Big Scrub rainforest and is susceptible to periodic flooding.
