About Coraki
Coraki is a town in north-eastern New South Wales, at the confluence of the Richmond and Wilsons Rivers in Bundjalung country. The name is thought to come from the Bundjalung language, possibly meaning 'meeting of the water' or referring to the bush turkey. The district was first permanently settled in 1849 by William Yabsley, and the town became one of the busiest ports on the Richmond River, with a shipyard above the river junction. In 2021 a native title determination recognised Bundjalung ownership of the area, including a bora ring near the town.
