About Floraville
Floraville is a suburb of the City of Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, located on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie 17 kilometres southwest of the Newcastle central business district and north of the town of Belmont. Established in 1885, the land was subdivided in the 1920s along with Belmont North and Jewells but was not developed until the 1960s. A sizeable portion of the eastern section was owned by the Gatt family as farmland, which has been gradually reduced through residential expansion. Floraville Public School opened in 1967. The suburb is in the state electorate of Swansea and the federal Division of Shortland.
