About Adamstown

Adamstown is a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, about 6 km west of the city's central business district, split between the City of Newcastle and the City of Lake Macquarie. Named after early landholder Thomas Adams, it became a municipality in 1886 before merging into Greater Newcastle in 1938. The suburb sits on the Main North railway line and is the northern trailhead of the Fernleigh Track, the rail trail running some 15 km to Belmont.
