About Stannum
Stannum is a small tin mining village on the Mole Tableland in the Northern Tablelands of the New England region of New South Wales, within Tenterfield Shire. It lies near the Queensland border, 14 kilometres north-west of Deepwater, and was originally known as Nine Mile; its post office, renamed Stannum in 1905, opened as Nine Mile in 1890.
