About Rocky River (Uralla - NSW)
Rocky River is a locality on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, about three kilometres west of Uralla. Gold was discovered here in 1851 and a rush followed, with the field peaking around 1856 when an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 miners and their families supported a town of twenty hotels, stores, churches and schools. Today only the Rocky River Public School on Thunderbolts Way and a few houses remain.
