About Newstead (NSW)

Newstead is a small rural locality in the Inverell Shire of New South Wales, located approximately 25 kilometres west of Inverell on the Gwydir Highway. The area is dominated by the historic Newstead Station, a large pastoral property established by Colin Anderson circa 1840. The station's woolshed was immortalised in Tom Roberts' 1894 painting The Golden Fleece.
