About Gunnedah
Gunnedah is a town on the Namoi River in the Liverpool Plains of north-central New South Wales, the seat of the Gunnedah Shire and the centre of a region producing cotton, coal, grain and livestock. The town calls itself the Koala Capital of New South Wales, with a large resident koala colony, and it hosts AgQuip, Australia's largest annual agricultural field day. The poet Dorothea Mackellar wrote My Country, with its famous line about a sunburnt country, about her family's farm near Gunnedah.
