About Dungowan
Dungowan is a village in the New England region, about 23 kilometres south-east of Tamworth on the banks of Dungowan Creek. Dungowan Station was established in 1834 as one of the earliest pastoral properties in the region, and the historic Dungowan Hotel dates from 1868, originally built to serve travellers between Tamworth and Nundle during the gold rush. Dungowan Dam supplies raw water to Tamworth via a 55-kilometre pipeline.
