About Dundee

Dundee is a rural locality on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, about 40 km north of Glen Innes on the New England Highway where it crosses the Severn River. The area grew from the large Dareel Plains pastoral station taken up in 1838, and the village of Severn, as the settlement was first known, boasted the district's first flour mill, opened in 1845. The heritage-listed Severn River railway bridge of 1886, once the longest timber truss bridge in Australia, still stands.
