About Hay South

Hay South is a large rural locality on the flat Riverina plains, about seven kilometres south of the township of Hay near the Murrumbidgee River. Hay itself is a major service centre at the junction of the Sturt, Cobb and Mid-Western Highways, and the surrounding semi-arid plains support grazing and irrigated farming. Originally known as Lang's Crossing Place, a key river crossing on a stock route to Victoria, the area has vast open landscapes typical of the western Riverina.
